Create an onboarding flow consisting of four screens: Account Type, Personal Information, Preferences, and Completion. Each step should feel like part of one cohesive experience while clearly communicating where the user is in the onboarding journey.
The flow should allow users to move forward and backward between steps while preserving the information they've entered.
Build a 4-step onboarding flow:
Account Type — Let users choose the type of account they want to create.
Personal Information — Collect essential details such as name, email, and other relevant information.
Preferences — Allow users to select their interests, preferences, or onboarding options.
Completion — Confirm that onboarding has been successfully completed and provide a clear next action.
Include a visible progress indicator showing the current step and overall progress.
Provide Next and Back navigation between steps.
Preserve previously entered information when navigating backward or forward.
Add appropriate form validation for required fields.
Use suitable controls such as inputs, radio buttons, checkboxes, dropdowns, or selectable cards where appropriate.
Clearly communicate validation errors and required fields.
The final completion screen should provide a clear success state and call-to-action.
Make the entire experience fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop.
Adapt the layout and spacing naturally on smaller screens without compromising usability.
Ensure all interactive elements have clear hover, focus, selected, disabled, and active states.
Use semantic HTML and accessible labels for all form controls.
Keep the visual language consistent across all four screens.
Add subtle transitions when moving between steps.
Show a small summary of selected preferences before completion.
Disable the Next button until required information for the current step is valid.
Allow users to click completed steps in the progress indicator to revisit them.
Consider adding a Save & Continue Later option for a more realistic onboarding experience.
Keep the interface focused—one clear decision at a time makes onboarding feel effortless.
Make the journey feel simple, intentional, and polished from the first step to the final “You’re all set.”
